Did You Eat? (밥 먹었니?)

is an original autobiographical solo show about love. It’s a play about how we learn to love, how we love, and how we love ourselves. It’s a love letter to my inner child and hopefully to yours, too.

Writer and solo performer Zoë Kim leads the play, transforming into her various family members, unraveling a candid story about her family and her life.

During 80 whirlwind minutes, audiences are guaranteed to laugh and cry in this funny, intimate, heart-breaking and introspective tale that will linger long after they’ve left the theatre.

CRITICS’ REVIEWS FOR DID YOU EAT? (밥 먹었니?)

workshop presentation at Edinburgh Festival Fringe August 4 - 26, 2023.

“There’s a very pleasing formalism to this tightly controlled piece directed by Chris Yejin. Kim’s precise presentation of the facts avoids emotional manipulation while also making the raw feelings on display all the more powerful” - The Scotsman

“Zoe Kim’s solo show “Did You Eat?” is a bold, direct look at growing up in a Korean-American family, delivered with warmth and dedication. Kim is a dedicated performer and a captivating storyteller.” - The Skinny

“The combined talents of Kim and Yejin are a force to be reckoned with, and it is hard not to feel while watching that we are seeing the beginnings of a potentially legendary partnership. To feel such intense investment in only an hour of theatre is truly an achievement. Don’t miss it.” - Fringe Review

“‘Did You Eat?’ is a deceptively simple, beautifully nuanced, semi-autobiographical piece of theatre. Written and performed by Zoe Kim with impressive physicality, this is the show for anyone who has tried to walk the tightrope of pleasing parental expectation and that of their own hopes. This is a show not to be missed.” - Edinburgh Guide

“The play tackles many heavy topics… But (Kim) interweaves them with plenty of comedic moments… Kim juggles these topics wonderfully, finding both moments of silence and laughter with the audience being stuck on her lips the entire time - and giving her a well-deserved standing ovation by the end.” - North West End UK
