We, at Seoulful Productions, are producers of Korean-American narratives.

But we are also a nonprofit, theatre company, film studio, event makers, community organizers, and the biggest cheerleaders of our AAPI community. We are the supportive Korean mom you always wanted to give yourself the permission to commit to your artistic career and to gently remind you that your truth will always be enough.

Why are we more than one thing, you might ask?

We believe that the future of storytellers will be a hybrid of more than one medium (if not, already). The line between live theatre and filmmaking is growing thinner every year, whether it be behind or in front of the camera/stage. Whether they are actors, writers, or directors - more and more creators are splitting their time between theatre and film, becoming equally adept at both mediums.

Moreover, it’s an undeniable fact that we live in a digital era where we see technological elements playing an increasingly significant role in how we communicate. From Zoom readings, live recordings, virtual reality, social media shorts to interactive shows, being flexible to the evolving entertainment industry and capable of multi-medium storytelling allows creatives to stay relevant and to find the right vehicle that best serves each story. Artists should be allowed to explore live theatre and filmmaking concurrently and we are committed to nurturing these pursuits.

Furthermore, we acknowledge that we are stronger together. We need a safe place to be together to support each other and to learn from each other. We want to always be throwing the rope back. This is the reason why we are equally passionate about producing events and workshops that strengthen our community.

In summary, these are our values and commitments:

  • Create new and reimagined works that represent and honor the Korean diasporic community.

  • Foster Korean diasporic artists by providing resources and education.

  • Produce events to build and grow the Korean diasporic community.

  • Stay accountable by maintaining transparency in our operations and practices.

  • Acknowledge and abide by anti-racist ethos. We understand that we have been deeply conditioned by society and history to accept racist beliefs and behaviors as the default and to use our platform to prevent harm and dismantle white supremacy.

Thank you for taking the time to read more about us.

We hope that you will stay involved with us in some way and support us in our journey.

With love and gratitude,

Seoulful Productions.
